A Recap of 2019
Well, I guess the biggest change was the fact that we relocated to an acreage! We didn't go far, just 10 mins South of our previous home, but it's so great to have more room, both inside and out!
Extra space aside, our program size will remain the same. It is so important that all our moms and pups have the individualized care and attention that they need to become fabulous dogs later on! Careful breeding, health of our sires and dams and a proper foundation for our puppies all work together to play a critical role in the puppy's temperaments, structure and overall health and wellness.
#kickassbreeder is a handle/hashtag that we have now adopted! Anyone can breed dogs, but not everyone has the passion and fortitude to be a #kickassbreeder. Our passion for better breeding practices and breeding better dogs has not waned over the years that we have been breeding our #wonderfulwoofies , in fact, quite the opposite! Our passion continues to grow! I actually had a meeting with my local MLA, Mr. R.J. Sigurdson (UCP). MLA for Highwood, to set in motion regulation surrounding dog breeding. There is much legislation and regulation regarding animal husbandry where it concerns livestock, but the system falls short with protecting domesticated pets. We are on a mission to see the implementation of specific requirements and licensing in order to breed domestic pets in Alberta. Our reproduction veterinarian, Dr. Marco Bregliano DVM, Dip.ACT , has expressed his interest in the matter as well and it's great to have that support!

Canine Behaviorist
As a part of our full-service approach and lifetime support, we have partnered with Cat Harbord of Impawsible Possible. Cat is a canine behaviorist with years of experience in the industry. She offers professional dog training and behavior consulting in the Calgary and surrounding area. She also trains therapy dogs and service dogs and she is a fabulous resource. Cat Harbord, Dip. CBST Director and Principal Trainer
Catherine (Cat) Harbord is the Director and Principal Trainer for ImPAWSible Possible.
Cat has helped empower and change the lives of countless canines and their people. Cat is passionate about the science of behaviour and is committed to lifelong learning in the areas of behaviourism, ethology, social learning models, and cognitive and developmental psychology. Cat holds a two year Diploma in Canine Behaviour Sciences & Technology from the Companion Animal Sciences Institute and completed a 1.5 year apprenticeship program in Calgary under a certified trainer and behaviour consultant. She has completed the BAT 2.0 and Bond Based Choice Instructors courses. Cat has accumulated over 15,000 hours of consulting and training experience with pet, service and therapy dogs in Calgary and the surrounding area.

We are thrilled with Alana and her family and Big Rock Labradoodles. Her holistic approach is exactly what we were looking for after loosing our lab to Cancer 2 years ago. We really wanted to work with a breeder that took a more natural approach and Big Rock really impressed us with their approach to everything from the care of their breeding dogs right through to their recommendations for raising our puppy. How do I even sum all of this up? From the very first email to Alana at Big Rock Labradoodles through to home day and now beyond, our experience has been wonderful beyond words. The level of education, preparation, information and care provided throughout the entire process is without equal. Alana was awesome through the entire process of bringing home our new puppy! Not only did she deliver an amazing and well mannered dog, but she was an incredibly knowledgeable supporter. What an amazing experience from start to finish we had with Alana at Big Rock. She is the consummate professional, so very knowledgeable and so passionate about her dogs and puppies. Could not recommend Big Rock more highly for anyone looking to grow their family.
Just do It!
If you are considering a puppy and reading this .. JUST DO IT! Alana at Big Rock Labradoodles (and all of her puppies) are fabulous. I would highly recommend Big Rock to anyone who is considering adding 4 feet to their family. She is very knowledgeable, well organized and clearly loves her job to raise well adjusted sweet puppies. Her website is always up to date (I might have been a bit of a stalker while waiting for our puppy) but she sends out weekly pictures and emails of what the litter are experiencing from day 1 until they go home with you. After the puppies go home she is STILL available for emails and will answer any questions you have for her. Alternatively she has a closed Facebook group where Big Rock families share pictures, ideas and help to other families; tons of support available! Our Wally (Capuchin from the Monkey litter) has a calm temperament, he is sweet and lovable. Could not be any more happier with our puppy or service received by Big Rock!!
Just Amazing
Alana is amazing, our puppy is super sweet and probably a genius in my opinion! Alana provided every imaginable piece of information required to take a puppy home, including a You Tube video explaining the paper work, plus a copy of his personality test (which describes him to a T). We requested a calm and affectionate dog and that's exactly what we received. We also really enjoyed the weekly photos and blurbs during the 8 weeks that we waited anxiously to bring him home. I have no hesitations in recommending Big Rock Labradoodles!
